The Location of Buccaneer Hill, Governor's Harbour and Eleuthera, The Bahamas

Buccaneer Hill is located in the historic village of Governor’s Harbour, Eleuthera.

The island is approximately 180 miles from Miami, Florida and 50 miles from Nassau, the capital of The Bahamas. Governor’s Harbour airport is a short 15 minute drive from the house.

There are direct flights into Governor’s Harbour from Miami and Ft. Lauderdale every day as well as from Nassau. Ferry service is available from Nassau and two additional airports in North Eleuthera and Rock Sound offer more connections to the mainland. Taxis and rental cars are readily available - the latter is preferable as it is great fun to explore the island’s sites.

Despite being over 100 miles long the island has only 10,000 inhabitants. As a very long and skinny island there are frequent spots from where you can see both the Atlantic Ocean and the Eleuthera Sound. The island has over 50 beaches and secluded coves to explore at your leisure. Deep sea and bone fishing are plentiful as is live local music, welcoming restaurants and endless sunshine. There are caves to go spelunking in, waves to surf, and cliffs from which to jump. If golfing and gambling are your preferences, then Eleuthera is not for you.

From the house - a mile to the east are the soft pink sand beaches of French Leave. Less than a mile down the hill in the other direction are basic amenities and shopping. A variety of very good restaurants, some within walking distance, offer tantalizing food options including Caribbean specialties, Spanish tapas and Italian cuisine.
